Our Mission
Helping make the digital world genuinely accessible to everyone.
The Accessibility Assurance Institute exists to develop practical technology, testing methodologies and evidence-based assurance tools that help organisations remove barriers for disabled people and build accessibility into everything they do.
Why we exist
We develop practical technology, testing methodologies and evidence-based assurance tools that help organisations identify, understand, remediate and prevent barriers that exclude disabled people from websites, applications and digital services.
Assurance
Accessibility requires more than a single test.
We use the word Assurance deliberately. Accessibility is not achieved by running a single test or displaying a compliance badge. It requires continuing evidence, human judgement, verification and accountability.
Our purpose is to give organisations confidence that accessibility has been properly considered, tested and maintained — and to give people who rely upon accessible technology greater confidence that their needs have not been treated as an afterthought.
Institute
Our purpose extends beyond providing software.
We call ourselves an Institute because AAI was founded to develop technical solutions, practical methodologies and knowledge that advance digital accessibility.
Our work brings together automated technology, human expertise and the lived experience of disabled people to help organisations understand accessibility more clearly and make lasting improvements to their digital services.
Our ambition
Our ambition is simple: to reduce the barriers between disabled people and the digital world, and to give organisations the tools and knowledge to build accessibility into everything they do.
Accessibility should not be something an organisation proves once. It should be something it can assure every day.← Back to AAI
