Why manual testing is required
Many important accessibility behaviours cannot be confirmed reliably by automated code inspection.
Manual testing is used for areas such as keyboard interaction, focus behaviour, meaningful reading order, error recovery, assistive-technology behaviour and the usability of complete user journeys.
Recording a result
- Passed — the tested requirement is satisfied.
- Failed — the tested requirement is not satisfied.
- Needs Review — more evidence or specialist judgement is required.
- Not Applicable — the requirement does not apply to the item being tested.
- Blocked — the test cannot currently be completed.
Evidence
Record enough evidence that another qualified person can understand what was tested, what happened and why the result was chosen.
